TALK: Would you like to come see some toys?
PHYSICAL MATHEMATICS SEMINAR
ABSTRACT:
One of my lines of activity is inventing, collecting, and studying toys --- objects from daily life which can be found or made in minutes, yet which, if played with imaginatively, reveal behaviors so surprising that they intrigue mathematicians and physicists for weeks. I will show and discuss several such toys; some will be known but revisited, some will be original.
