Abstract: As digitalization is transforming industry in the most exciting way, many believe that industrial metaverse is the data-driven future of industrial environments. We propose a novel way to understand and analyze complex industrial environment with state-of-the-art computer vision techniques such as NeRFs (neural radiance fields). We create a pipeline to autonomously capture the physical space and build its digital twin to synchronize the physical and digital worlds. We show how to use various tools (NeRF, 3D photorealistic scanning apps, and Unity gaming engine) to build the digital twin as a real-time dynamic representation of the industrial space, and how to apply the digital twin in various industrial applications including inventory monitoring and management. During the talk we will highlight the research challenges associated with representing changing environments within a NeRF.
